CSS Composites is Hiring a Design Engineer Near Gunnison, UT

Position Summary
Future Comp is an innovative manufacturer of engineered composite thermoplastics. Using state-of-the-art technology, we produce new solutions and new products in multiple industries. The CAD Technician adds value to the organization in several ways: 1) working with the Engineers to develop 3D models, 2) preparing models for hand-off to machinists for milling and turning operations, 3) generating drawings for use in purchasing, manufacturing, and inspection, 4), supporting manufacturing Engineers with floor layouts and process flows.
Responsibilities
  • Work with engineers to generate 3D models designs of products, tooling, fixturing, or other components
  • Create engineering drawings from 3D models
  • Create 2D layouts of shop structures and flow including power, air, water, and other connections
  • Create schematics of electrical and automation installations
  • Understand and use lean principles to eliminate waste and continuously improve processes, such as: standardized work instructions, training development matrix, value stream mapping, Kaizen, 5S, Kanban, pull processes, TPM, SMED, and cell design.
  • Strive to provide value to internal and external customers via delivery of quality work in a timely manner
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics
Knowledge
  • Understanding and knowledge of lean manufacturing and how to implement and support
  • Knowledge of engineering design principles and standards for 3D modelling
  • Basic understanding of GD&T
  • Basic understanding of how CAM interfaces with CAD and how to improve integration from model to programmable part
Skills
  • Intermediate skill level with 3D CAD software, such as SolidWorks
  • Intermediate skill level with Excel and other MS Office software
  • Familiar with creating EBOMs in SolidWorks
  • Familiar with management of change controls
  • Skilled problem solver and creative thinker
Abilities
  • Able to independently maintain up to date models and drawings
  • Able to effectively communicate across different levels of the organization
  • Able to work effectively on teams and create a positive work environment
  • Able to follow procedures and document best practices and encourage others to follow best practices
Personal Characteristics
  • Good intrapersonal skills
  • Attention to detail and able to drive a project or task to completion
  • Strives to provide value to both internal and external customers through process improvement
  • Good work ethic and attitude that results in consistent attendance
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification or degree in CAD or engineering design
  • 1-5 years experience in a engineering design or drafting
